  Paul climbed to a rocky point above the pass     A deer near the trail as we started climbing. She never spooked, just watched us all the way as we walked past.   Mayela climbing toward Froze-to-Death Plateau. We're currently at about 9300 feet.  Sun setting behind the mountains to the west.
