August 2007: Scorched Earth (Trail Creek Lakes)

  This is the route I would take to climb toward Mount Regan's base (roughly where the shadows end).  A cool-looking cluster of wildflowers I stepped over on the way up the mountain.   Approaching the base of Mount Regan, here is a different angle on Lake Yoshi (and the side of the unnamed mountain we typically climb from the Trail Creek basin).   This was part of the scree field I was climbing. It was fairly steep and hard-packed, like trying to climb a sloped roof covered with ball bearings.  As I climbed above the surrounding ridges, the smoke from several nearby forest fires came into view.
