  At about 7900 feet, the weather turned sour and it started to rain ... sideways. We decided to turn around, so here was our "almost made it" shot as clouds settled on the peak.  And of course, I had to call somebody from the mountaintop, just because...!   Then, I decided ... hmm why not try for the summit anyway? Hiking into a cloud might be kinda cool!   About 400 feet below and 1/4 mile from the summit, the cloud bank started. It was coming fast from below, with winds of about 30 mph, gusts to about 50.  Finally, at the summit of Great Northern. Took 4:46 from the trailhead, a gain of 4400 feet (8700 feet at the top), and about 4 miles overland. I was 100% soaked, with 30-40 mph winds blowing ice up the southern face right at me.
