There were three hawks flying around the summit constantly, sometimes within 20 feet of us! This is the best picture we got, though. Note the stormy clouds moving in.

Because I dig this sort of stuff! The innards of the box included some rack-mount radio gear, four 7.5AH/6V batteries (HEAVY!), a mallet, some rope, duct tape, and a CB-style handset. Looks like it's a repeater operating in the 140-160 Mhz region. Labeling appears to be for multi-agency firefighting use.

After running out of water and getting rained on, we made a break for the building we saw from afar. Turns out it's atop Little Snowy Top, and here we are getting close to it. No water there, though. :(

Inside the lookout. According to the plaque, it's the "last remaining 1930's vintage L4 lookout in the Priest Lake area." and "about 2 miles south of the Canadian border." Pretty well maintained, I might add.

"Hmm. What happens if I pull on this?"

Within five minutes of getting to the top, a HUGE thunder storm hit us, so we holed up in the lookout for the next three hours. It got cold, but there was some dry wood and a potbelly stove, so...
