  Picture along the ridge toward Snowball lakes  This is where I came on my first summit of Granite, back in 2001. Around the lake, then up the snowfield to the saddle. The drop below is incredible ... about 1800 feet down to the snow which is visible between the rocks.   Avalance lake, with the Snowball lakes in the background. This is where we've camped on two other trips into this area.   At 1:00pm, the weather started moving in.  More cool wildflowers, near the ridge on Tempest.
